Pediatric Dental Care with The Good Dentist

At The Good Dentist, we understand that your child’s dental health is just as important as their overall health and well being. But we know that many parents are unsure when their child should visit the dentist for the first time or how to make each visit a positive experience. With the help of Dr. Max Meinerz and Dr. Ostromecki in Merton WI, children can enjoy visiting the dentist’s chair and play a vital role in the health of their smiles.

When should my child see the dentist for the first time?

Building a positive relationship with our youngest patients starts in infancy. We follow the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s recommendations of seeing children for their first visit before the age of one or as soon as their first tooth erupts through the gum line. After this, we encourage patients to book cleanings and evaluations for their child—and themselves!—every six months.

How do I help my children care for their teeth?

Dr. Ostromecki and Dr Max Meinerz encourage parents to ask questions about their child’s dental health, including ways to make sure they reduce the risks of tooth decay and periodontal disease. At The Good Dentist, we encourage parents to use a warm, moist washcloth to gently rub their child’s gums after meals. Parents should also avoid putting the child to bed with a milk bottle, which can contribute to the formation of cavities. Children over the age of three should start using fluoride toothpaste when they brush and begin learning the significance of regular flossing.

What services are available for children at The Good Dentist?

Our practice is pleased to offer many of the same services for children as we provide for adults, including additional choices such as applying dental sealants and using tooth-colored fillings for any cavities that may develop.
