Clinical Assistant

At The Good Dentist we believe that taking care of your teeth starts with providing unique care, attention, and understanding to the people attached to the teeth. Our growing team needs a clinical hygiene or dental assistant to provide gentle care to our patients. Clinical assisting experience is a plus but a positive attitude, patient-first mentality, and ability to work with a team are our only requirements.

Duties of the Clinical Assistant include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Review patient’s treatment plan and outstanding treatment needed, prior to daily morning meeting
  • Review the need for medical history updates. Annual “short history” updates are required and 5 year “full history” is required
  • Dental practice clinical daily set up
  • Dental operatory set up & break down
  • Clinical procedures including but not limited to – application of topical anesthetic using the anesthetic guide, radiographs, alginate and PVS impressions or intraoral scanning, addition and removal of restorative matrix bands, fabrication of temporary crowns, fitting of final crowns prior to cementing, addition and removal of clear aligner orthodontic attachments, delivery of retainers/bruxism appliances, coronal polishing and flossing, fluoride application to adults and children
  • Manage and communicate stock/supply needs to lead assistant
  • Instrument cleaning, sorting and sterilization procedures
  • Keep up to date with and practice current infection control measures
  • Keep x-rays up to date, informing patient of our x-ray refusal protocol if refused
  • Patient education and oral hygiene instructions
  • Triage emergency patients as needed
  • Help other assistants stay on time as needed
  • Update general charting with documentation in a timely manner
  • Schedule patient recall appointments
  • Assist the DDS or RDH during clinical procedures
  • Establish a rapport with all patients and validate treatment recommendations made by the doctor
  • Other duties as assigned by team leader and department leader

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 – $20.50 per hour

Experience:
